About Me

About Me

Therry Cromratie
I’m a multidisciplinary graphic designer, illustrator, and arts educator who builds clear, purposeful visuals for nonprofits, schools, community programs, and small businesses. My practice spans brand systems, print/editorial layout, event campaigns, and illustration—with a steady through‑line of thoughtful typography, balanced composition, and accessible design.
I approach every brief like a design problem to solve: understand the audience, set visual priorities, and deliver clean, on‑brand work that moves people to action. Whether it’s a publication, poster series, social campaign, or a set of illustrations destined for apparel or cards, my goal is the same—clarity, craft, and impact.
 Design & Illustration
Brand & Campaign Design: Identity elements, logos, event and program branding, cross‑channel rollouts
Print & Editorial: Menus, brochures, magazine ads, one‑sheets, and publication systems (InDesign)
Illustration: Pen & ink, watercolor, and digital illustration (Procreate/Illustrator) with a focus on botanical, anatomical, and symbolic motifs—designed to translate into products (e.g., apparel, greeting cards, tarot concepts)
Photography Support: Event coverage, image editing, and layout‑ready assets
Production & Prep: Print specs, file setup, mockups, and vendor handoff

Education
B.F.A., New Media & Design – University of North Carolina at Greensboro
At UNCG, I built a strong foundation in typography, grid systems, color theory, motion basics, and design research. Studio critiques and iterative projects reinforced a process‑driven approach: mood boards → sketches → digital comps → production. Coursework emphasized concept first, then execution—an approach that still guides my client and community work today.
Illustration Focus
My illustration practice fuels my design work. I develop pen & ink, watercolor, and digital pieces as warm‑ups, studies, and prototypes for future applications—tarot cards, apparel graphics, product stickers, and editorial spot illustrations.
Botanical studies inform pattern work and print layouts.
Anatomy & symbolic motifs support narrative branding and poster design.
Watercolor on paper and canvas explores texture and mood; scans are refined for print‑ready use.
Teaching & Creative Leadership
KIPP: Pride High School – Visual Arts Instructor & Yearbook Advisor. Led a student team to create the first yearbook in several years (2024–2025). Support school photography and collaborate with coaches on field painting/event graphics.
Vance County Schools – Taught both virtual and in‑person, adapted curriculum for hybrid learning, assisted with Arts Alive, and received Beginning Teacher of the Year. Facilitated professional development sessions to foster team building. Classroom work included papier‑mâché, painting, and mixed‑media projects designed for all skill levels.
This experience sharpened my ability to scope projects, manage timelines, communicate clearly, and lead creative teams—skills I carry directly into design roles.
